Engine oil still dirty after change
I changed the oil and filter but the oil turned dark within 50 miles of driving. Is there any recommended ways to clean the engine of deposits before I change the oil again?

It got dirty bc all the oil that is left in there. No way to get all excess oil and gunk out of the motor with a simple oil change you either need a flush or buy some cheap oil if your that concerned and change the oil a few times within 50-100 miles of eachother and that could help.

The main ingredient in most engine flushes is kerosene. You could add a half quart or so to the oil and let it idle 5 to 10 minutes, then drain and refill. If it concerns you this much , pull the oil pan and clean it thoroughly with Purply Stuff. If you are careful, the original pan gasket can be reused if it is in good shape. If both surfaces are clean and dry, you should have no leaks.

What kind of oil do you use - mineral or synthetic?
What kind of oil filter?
How many miles have on the engine?
The oil gets dark immediately after a few miles it depends how dark.
Try to flush first with synthetic oil and K&N filter.
If it doesn't help try with kerosene. Make a research how to do it before flushing with kerosene.

Re: Engine oil still dirty after change
Some guys with diesel engines put little kerosene in the tank during the winter to prevent freezing of the diesel fuel.
Some people say the kerosene is no good for the gaskets.
p.s.
Why don't you drive with 5W30 oil I think is recommended by Honda for most of the Civic engines?

Re: Engine oil still dirty after change
If your engine does not burn a lot of oil I would go with the thinest oil, which is 5W30. Inthe summer my use 10W30. I always run with 5W30 in the winter, bc the temp. here drops to 4°F.
Honda manual (specs for D15B7 and I belive for all Civic engines):
“An oil with a viscosity of 5W30 is preferred for fuel economy and year-round protection. You may use 10W30 oil if temp. in your area never goes below 20°F (-7°C).”
