gears grinding
well.. I put in some GM syncromesh today and although its a lot better, it still grinds a lot. It grinds on all gears, but only about 75% of the time..
Any do-it-yourself suggestions?

You need to wait arround 200-500 miles for the oil to full penetrate all the gears and soak in. That is when you will see the Major chances.
I put syncromesh in today also, I hav'nt noticed any differences either but I guess Ill have to wait a few days.
Just curious, how much did you pay per qt? I paid around $9

Tempory fix... Yea i guess that it might be... I have arround 40k on the syncromesh and the gear grinding has yet to come back.
If you have a warrantee then get those gears FIXED!!! at least the new shift forks and syncros!

just miss a shift and take it in
just don't destroy your valvetrain
just kidding, don't do that. take it in right away and tell em your synchros are off.

blah.. dealer says theres nothing wrong now. Theres two explanations:
The grinding was caused by a breakdown in the old fluid.. and thats why the new fluid seems to work better.
The synchros are off and thats why the synchromesh is working well.
Hopefully its the first scenario
