The Famous 1995 Prelude SE

OK this is my first post so here it goes. I recently bought a 95 SE Special edition, does anyone know the HP on this motor. I can totally beat 2000 civic Si is this normal with the H23A1. to my understanding they are only suppose to have 160 hp stock and that is what mine is. Also i met a guy that said mine was much louder than his was stock. and no im not retarded the whole exhuast system is stock. any ideas. it came with the top of the line compuserve alarm and i fond wiring for a amp and subs but that is it. there is also a little sticker on the bak that says TD sports does any one know what this is. Thank you for reading this and please if you can reply...
Yes, the 4th gen Prelude Si/SE is 160HP just like the Civic Si, but there's a big difference...Torque & power-bands...The civic makes it's power up high & has a peaky power band and little torque......The prelude H23A makes more power down low & has a more usable power curve. The only drawback is that the H23 doesn't make any power up high. That is why the Prelude Si/SE can eat up civic si's for breakfast.....
I'd watch who you say that to...
.... There are factory freak cars & also bad drivers out there, but the Si manual can really only beat up on automatic VTEC ludes or bad drivers in manual VTEC ludes....

yea ... but to a nub with a vtec..... iam pretty sure you cant beat it if there were two of you in a h22 and h23 racing yourself........hmmm who will win duhhhhhhh
the h22......(this is considering stock ludes)

There is also another "difference". Gearing and weight. The civic has the advantage here.

hmmm
The Prelude Si makes 160hp at 5800rpm. Which is about 700rpm from redline
The Civic Si makes 160hp at 7600rpm. Which is about 400rpm from redline
If you want to argue about a 300rpm difference from where power is delivered relative to the redline is the difference between calling the powerband "peaky" and the other "broad", I dont agree.
Lets use 2nd gear as an example.
The tranny in the Civic Si hits 60mph exactly at 8000rpm in 2nd gear.
The tranny in the Prelude Si hits 58mph at 6500rpm in 2nd gear.
See my point?

These two sentences contradict each other. The H23's peak power does come on about 700rpm from redline, that is not "down low", it is not a turbo diesel. It does make its power up high relative to its redline. Its not like the peak power comes on at 5800rpm and the h23 has an 8k redline...
And I know this is a prelude forum, but in my experience the civic si is alittle quicker stock vs stock.

Yea.....I don't know about you beating VTEC Ludes man...
Hehe that sounds more like a automatic vtec or a guy that was afraid to rev up to higher RPM before shifting....
But yea I would say not possible....

Correct me if I'm wrong....but arent all Vtec 4th gen. MT (usdm anyways). Also, a Vtec prelude IS an Si, in fact all 4th gen Vtec ludes are Si's, but not all Si's are Vtec ludes. Now if we get into 5th gens....thats a whole 'nother story. I say congrats if he's really running that. I could keep up with my friends '95 Si Vtec H22a USDM, in my '93 Si H23a before he got Vafc, not now. NEways...my .02

wrong, 93 was technically called si vtec, but of course to differentiate the cars you are going to just call it a vtec if thats what you mean, or at least si vtec not just si. and 94-96 was just called vtec. but lets just say it is a 93 si vtec, then good for him, he can drive and the driver of the vtec can't.
