1st gen b16 VS. 2nd gen b16 which one?
im looking at buying a car right now and it has a 1st gen swapped into it. should i go to the hassle of swapping in a 2nd gen, or just the tranny? or just rebuild the 1st gen. any help is appreciated
i have a set of ctr's for sale. email kanzenr91si@aol.com if interested

i dont think i would buy a car with a swap in it, just to swap a different motor in it. Im sure you can find the same kind of car for cheaper, but with out the swap. If its the second gen you want then, just buy a car and buy a second gen motor for it.
to save yourself some money, just build the motor in the car from the oil pan up and you shouldn't have any problems. if you want a budget/oem build, ctr or itr parts will do wonders.
say i buy the car with the 1st gen b16, should i swap out the block for a larger one? i.e. a b18c5 block or b18c1? i guess a better question would be, what block should i swap on, if any?

If you swap the block at all, it would be wise to go ahead with the LS block. It offers more torque than either the c1 or the c5 when equipped with a VTEC head. Also, you would probably want to go ahead and build the LS block before you put it in. It only comes with 9:1 compression from the factory so upping that to 11:1 would be nice. Also be sure to get some stronger rods and you may want to get the block sleeved while you're at it.

i was thinking of doing LS/vtec, but i cant afford it and especially the down time. what about a type r bottom end, would that be worth it? my friend did Ls/vtec and has his block still that i could pick up. worth it or no
ls/vtec isn't always the best way to go. keep in mind that the ls blocks weren't made to rev like the vtec heads that you're mating it with. when done right ls/vtec will do wonders, but that requires building up that bottom end to handle the vtec heads. going with a c1 or c5 end gives you the advantage of the bottom end made for high reving vtec. do a search on poorman's type r vs ls/vtec. it's been covered before many times. both setups have their ups and downs, but unless you're willing to shell out for doing ls/vtec the right way, i vote type r block. Especially if you have easy access to one.

Wow, that is so off topic is isn't even funny. What the hell is going on with this board.
