Default Does anyone have a 97-01 prelude with oil consumption problems?

I bought 00 prelude. 2 months after I bought it, after takeing all the dino oils out of it and putting in synthetics I noticed that the oil light came on. Checked the stick and it was empty. What the _uck is going on. I know that the original owner probably didn't abide by the proper break-in period hence why I'm on here trying to get any answers.

Do a compression check. If that turns out ok, check the cam seal, which may be leaking.

I burn about 1qt every 3000 miles, but I've never run it dry.
My 99 prelude has burned oil since day 1.

Sounds like the life story of owning a Prelude... I have the same problem... I've even redone the bottom end and still get oil consumption.

Hoonda says to expect up to 2 quarts of consumption between oil changed (7500 miles suggested oil change)

yeap

For Honda to consider it an "issue" you have to burn over a quart every 800 miles. Same "standards" Ford and GM use also

Check your cam seal guys. The OEM cam seal is crap.

i've heard that h22's have a silicone lining that causes the cylinder walls to wear. I have a 2k lude that burns about 1qt / 1k mi... I also have a lot of blach crap on the back of my car from the exhaust

It's called blow by...might want to have a compression test done. The black exhaust is ok, but the qt every 1k miles is kind of suspicious.
