what do u think about this deal?
in a 89 crx ..."preppy b16a motor with gsr head, dual springs in the head to rev to 9Krpm, reprogrammed ecu, greddy header and 2.25" crimp bent exhaust, old skool JUN adj cam gears ... $3800"
what do u guys think?
what questions should i ask?

well first if it does have a GSR head then it's probably been converted to OBD1 with a P72 ECU. All B16's were dual spring except the automatics in Japan unless he got a auto B16 and it happened to be mated with a manaual tranny.
It will already rev to 8K but with aftermarket springs it will safely rev up to 10K but there isn't any power unles you get aftermarket cams and port your head.
ok the greddy header is beleivable and so is the 2.25 crimp bent exhaust. I honestly think that's a little high for a CRX with a B16 and would offer close to $3200 just depening on details of the car and after looking at pics.

P30 pistons are from a JDM B16A which raise your compression a little. The GSR head also raises your compression a little bit and even a little bit more aggressive cams then the stock B16 head. From what I know the GSR head has a higher CFM (153) flow rate compaired to the B16 (151). The GSR head isn't a bad idea it mostly depends on the intake manfifold. do know what the manifold looks like? if not here are some pics....
GSR
B16
To let you know according to http://www.c-speedracing.com/h...c.php your compression should be about 11.29 if you get a 1 layer head gasket. Also do you know if the car has been converted to OBD1?
O yeah here's the headflow diagram just to let you know
seems like a good idea to me I would go for it but offer a lower price

what is cfm?
I am asking right now about obd-1 conversion.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Make sure you ask what ECU and intake manifold he has as well
CFM - Cubic Feet per Minute
it's how much air is going through the head. The higher the # the more air you have to compress during combustion which = more power. There's more engine theory to this but that's just the basic of it

If he's running a GSR manifold then his secondary butterflies are either not hooked up or opening all the way or closed there's no diversity. There is a way to hook them up through vaccuum but your going to have **** for low end torque.
I would buy it but switch out the intake manifold ASAP or convert to OBD1 and start looking for a OBD1 P72. If he's using a GSR fuel rail then your set unless he has the B16 fuel rail/injectors on the head. If you do deceide to convert to OBD1 you will need a OBD1 dizzy for that head. Everything else should be plug and play since GSR's do not have a resistor box for saturated injectors
it's a odd combo but you could make that into a pretty fun car. I would just ask for a little lower price then what he's giving you.
hope this helps

no you don't have to but if your going to use that intake manifold then I would recommend you convert to OBD1 and use a P72 ECU.
I'm sure he's using stock B16 injectors and fuel rail since those are plug and play. You could also use GSR Injecotrs but the clips are different so you'll have to splice those into the CRX wiring.

Thanks for the advice. This guy is actually putting the swap together for me, so nothing is made yet, but i'll see what we can do about it. Anyone selling p72 ecu's here? good looking out wicked!

Nothing is in it now.. its just rolling chassis... i dont have pics of the car but i hope to get them tonight im supposed to go check it out tonight...
He would be putting the swap together from parts he already has...

doesnt' sound to bad. seems like he's charging mostly for putting the swap together and installing. Are you getting a mount kit or you using stock mounts from a EG and integra?
how many miles are on the car and does it have full interior in decent shape?

I am going to see the car late tonight (after midnight)... so I will take pictures and post them. I will also find out the rest of the info after i talk to the guy again.
