Oil Catch Can, waste of money or not?? OPINIONS ANYONE??
Im thinking about purchasing one? Do they really work or are they a waste of money? Does it matter on brand or do they all perform the same? What do you guys think?
For the most part they are functional. The good ones have baffles so that the oil sludge doesn't return into the line.
If you dont have a baffle, you can just put some steel wool or a brillo pad in there and it'll work the same.

http://www.optauto.com has one on sale right now manufactured by greddy for 83.00$ check it out
LoL...make one...I dont really like that backyard type of deal...I rather spend the 100 bucks buying a nice one than 5 bucks at home depot. But thanks for all the inputs guys, appreciate it.

don't use steel wool or a brillo pad unless you want that in your engine. that stuff can/will break up. Use a good length of the metal ball chain, its what they use on pull switches for lights and ceiling fans.

please.. get some stainless steel wool. None of that really fine stuff that will come apart. You'd have to buy a LOT of that metal ball chain to make any sort of a decent baffle.

Sure it will. Especially once moisture gets in there and it starts to rust. (stainless steel wool can rust).
Apparently cut up speaker grill works great for baffling. The kind that you get with a new set of speakers.
I have had good sucess with using plastic gutter mesh.

He's saying don't get the really fine stuff that will fall apart.
But stainless steel scouring pads would work the best. There's no way you'd have a problem with those. To use the ball-chains you need to have already existing baffling to wrap it around, otherwise it'll just end up in a pile at the bottom of the can & do you no good at all.

Just buy some hose and put the filter in between the PCV Valve and the intake manifold. In the middle of this hose:
Then run your hoses, I chose to make mine long, its up to you...

do you have anymore pics of where all of those hoses run? In that dsm thing it shows that they just put a fuel filter inbetween two hoses going from the valve cover to the intake.
