Default Need an Exhaust, 2.5", any recommendations?

I'm looking at replacing the stock exhaust piping w/ 2.5" exhaust piping (since my header and cat are 2.5"). Can anyone recommend a brand that will produce a lot of power along w/ an estimated price and why you think that exhaust is a good exhaust? Thanks...

SMSP and Hytech are the only two 2 1/2" exhausts that i know of. hytech exhaust runs about $1000. It is a twin loop muffler like the mugen, but in 2 1/2" piping. SMSP makes a build it yourself exhaust- it comes in peices that have to be welded together. I think it runs $350-600 depending on what type of steel you want. Kakimoto makes a 70mm exhaust for the R, its a little bigger than 2 1/2" though. If you do a search on these exhausts you can find plenty of info and pics of them.

yeah, and how much $ is that?

I'd say get some 2.5" i/d piping mandrel bent for you by a local shop and put the can of your choice on there... Cheaper than an off the shelf unit and with maybe even superior gains if you're making decent power... 60mm off the shelf units can hold you back...

Yeah someone mentioned that I get it custom made... mandrel bent B pipe (w/ no resonator) and put on whatever axle back section I wanted. Does the stock R come w/ all SS exhaust piping? If so will a mandrel bent B pipe be as good as the stock piping even if the stock piping is .25" smaller than what I want?

ss mandrel bent piping will be better than the stock piping for 2.5"...

Stock piping isn't that great. I don't think it's even ss. and it gets as little as 2" or 2.25" in some places...

George,

How do you like the sound with the longer resonator?

BTW, I have 2 system kits in stock ready to be built.

My 22 inch resonator worked out really well. Nice sounding exhaust.

The Kakimoto R is around the same price as other Japan made exhaust (Apex'i, Greddy, HKS, etc...) out in the market.

I expect many shipments of goods to be delayed due to the terrible acts that were committed yesterday against innocent people.

I think the GReddy Power Extreme might be 2.5''. Because it claims to have larger diameter piping than their other exhausts which are 60 mm (2.36''). Anyone know for sure?

God sells kakimoto. I think they are $650 -675 plus shipping. Like someone said before SMSP is the way to go for the money.

Hi SMSP,

Are you back in business at this point? I'm interested in one of your exhaust kits. How much would one be shipped to Houston, TX? TIA.
