Default Hed Stud Question. Help Please!!!

I have a 89 Civic DX. I am wondering if you need to lube the head studs in oil before torquing them to spec!

OK it doesnt matter if you drive through a salt storm your HEAD bolts should NOT be rusting if they are you have more problems than winter.

As for lubing them I have heard that you do use a little motor oil on them??

So, do you oil them up or not? Also, what if a head stud is rusted...Is it garbage?

You are talking about the studs that hold the head to the block right? Lubing them changes the torque spec that should be used. You should check with the manufacture of the studs for the correct procedure and torque spec. If they are rusty you should hit them up with a scotch brite pad or wire wheel to take the rust off.
