Default Company that sells JDM RHD DC5R for 34K

well...after seeing jdmhondaparts mugenized dc5r..i searched for a company that actually imports cars over to the US...a company called fuel imports deals with many over seas companys that sell any kind of japanese car...i actually had the oppt to find a 2001 honda integra dc5r in white...the car is shipped to the US and all DOT and EPA regulations r met...the car is not..i reapeat not crash tested in anyway..all one has to do is basically pay for the car and wait for them to ship which takes about 4 weeks and then it is set up to meet US standards so that it can b driven on public highways..here is the catch..the car cost about 19K and then an extra 15K to legalize it... one good thing is that they even provide an insurance company for the car...so basically its a simple as pay and wait to get the car...

for a price of 34k im wondering if this is even woth it...i mean i can buy a brand spakin new 04 s2k..also they can only finance about 10k worth meaning u have to provide about 25k cash... ..im not rich..so this sucks...

here is the email i got ..this company has done a lot of importing into the US..and they r a very legit and well maintained company

"This is the vehicle that is currently avialable at a discounted price. We are able to offer you this vehicle at a total transaction price of $34,500.00 USD. This price includes the vehicle, shipping to the US and conversion to US requirements. "

When you can get a brand new EVO, STi, or S2K for less than that.... why would you want a DC5R...

I've been pondering this same situation. Two things have swayed my opinions: you cant race any sort of stock class with it; and i just saw a best motoring video where a stock s2000 got better lap times than an e46 m3. But i know what your thinking....it would be the bomb to have a dc5r

yes it would b very nice to have a dc5R...cause its just pimp car that nobody has ...n e way i was able to talk the guy down in price to 29.9K and that is still epa and dot approved...but insurance for the car would b about 300 a month..good thing is i was also able to put 15k deposit down and finance the rest...do u guys think this is a good deal?? and i was talkin to the importer for a while and he said that no matter what it is not possible to get a slivia over in the US..they said customs wont allow it..and that is the only car they wont allow...weird cause they allow skylines...n e way

With the right amount of cash, anything is possible. I remember reading a while back in super street some guys had a Silvia imported to Texas, and it was very legal.

Japan doesnt have specific year models if I remember correctly, whenever you buy the car (say 2001 when they are called 2002's here in the states) is what model year it is over there.
