Anyone here with a road-racing Prelude...
Especially cars with slicks. What issues have you had with the oiling system, specifically the oil pan. Leave it alone? Overfill? Accusump? Baffled pan? I'm afraid on my mid-engine Mini I'm going to have problems... Right now the "solution" is an Accusump, and maybe later a baffled pan, but since I haven't driven it at the track yet, I have no idea if it'll work.
What would be really helpful would be to know how a good baffled H22A pan is constructed...

I"m not on slicks yet, but I track my prelude quite often and make it a habit to overfill. Usually run the car 1/4 qt. over , maybe a little more. Haven't come across any starvation problems yet.

Yes.

Mostly because a stock oilpan will do the job. (baffled, of course) Cheaper and effective.

No, it won't, you will need an accusump setup in the car you are building.. I have to run over a qt over full to keep mine on hi cam on transitional or hard left hand corners.. And I have put baffles in my pan, and it did help slightly.. The h22 pickup is designed horribly, and is basically almost in the middle of the pan, not the middle of the "dip"..
Stock pan for B series is fine, they come with factory baffles, h/f series pans are just a dish, no oil altering devices what so ever in the pans..

My comment was only directed at use of the moroso pan, not the accusump

Oh, sorry for the confusion.. He is still going to have to get an accusump..

No problem whatsoever!
Agreed about the accusump
Chris - who didn't want to be seen as a purveyor of misinformation... that's all.

Thanks for the comments... keep them coming. Yes I'm going to use a 2-qt Accusump (though they have their own "issues.") I also have a spare pan and pick up I plan to modify, once I decide on the best design.
Just shorten the actually pickup line by about 1.5", and re-weld it back together, or sleeve it and weld it.. Then the pickup will be in the middle of the "sump", now you can actually put some decent size baffles on the passenger side of the "sump"..
Seems like we, as a group, could come up with a "how to baffle an oil pan," article. I guess this pertains more to the H22 guys. Huh, did I just volunteer?

Well, you do seem to have some talent at documenting stuff - as your Mini construction site proves... Maybe a chapter in there on how you baffled your oil pan?

With graphic photos showing, "Well *this* one didn't work." Yeah I'll come up with something and have pictures. If it works really well (meaning with no Accusump) perhaps I'll produce them
. I've read though that modifying the steel pan is asking for trouble due to the type of metal it is. I do have an aluminum one, those are prettier any way. We'll see.
