Default How to figure out redline

How do figure out the redline on a motor that is using aftermarket internals.. Like I am in the process of building a B18C5 motor with je pistons, crower rods, B16 head with Crower cams, crower retainers, crower valve springs, and ferrea valves.. How would I find the redline of this motor.. Thanks

You should contact Ferrea and/or Crower to see what they say about that. They should give you reasonable rev-limits for the specific internals you're using. There's not way to really "calculate" what your new rev limit would be. For Honda reliability, without a hitch go with the stock redline. Everything after that is uncertain...but that's what makes it fun, right?

I know that kind of fun.. On one side you tell your friends, "Hey.. I revved my car to 11k and it held fine", but if it blows, "What in the hell were you doing revving that high, idiot".. Ill call the manufacturers to see what they think and come down a few rpms.. Thanks for the help..

No prob. Treat the motor right and it'll treat you right as well.

I would put the car on a dyno and find out where your peek power is made, then shift right after that point. Even if your car can rev to 10K "guessing my car could" if the cams make max power at 7800RPM then... you will not gain anything by reving the **** out of the motor, other then bragging rights.....

Find out where you are making max power, and shift a couple hundred rpm above that.

I try to shift at 8000RPM "still have stock cams" but half the time when I get near 8KRPM my tires tend to spin and I rev into the 8400-8500rpm range oops.... hehehee

as far as bragging rights my bike revs to 15K =-)
