Default 5 lug compatability questions for the master honda mechanics.....

I have ordered the jdm ITR 5 lug and i am curious if i can use my stock axles which are d16 with the itr 5 lug.. I have read about a 32mm and 36mm nut with the 32mm being the usdm and 36 jdm. I have had many people tell me i can and some tell me otherwise. I just need some input on what all i need to make it compatable with my car. Help me....

thanks
jon

Your stock axles will not work being they are 32mm and the jdm ITR hubs are 36mm.

I have seen someone before post that has tried to use the 36mm outer CV joint that has the 36mm shaft on it and put that onto the D series axles, but I haven't seen it to be successful.

Your D series WILL work as far as length and everything else, you just need to have the 36mm outer CV joint on your stock D series axles.

If you plan on getting B series, then all you need is the JDM ITR B series axles.

ok someone told me that if i use the 36mm from a 94+ prelude or accord and attach that to my d series axle that would work. Im going to have a hnda certified mechanic install this im just trying to trouble shoot as much as possible. It comes with the itr axles so i will have those ready for the b swap. Are custom axles for this situation outrageously expensive or what can i do... thanks

5 lug swap is very easy.

As for the axles, custom axles will definitely solve the problem just as long as they have the measurements (if you get complete custom axles).

If you get just the outer 36mm custom CV joint spline to match with the 36mm JDM ITR hub using the D series axles, that will also work.

As for price......depends on who you go through.

I would contact driveshaftshop.com and ask them if they are able to make D series axles with an outer 36mm (like the Accord or Prelude) outer CV joint.

Here is a thread to help you on the swap: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=432347

Also, you can go to just about any drive shaft shop and they will custom make you an axle. Should be no more than $100 per axle
