Why are they so high at the Acura Dealer? Well I guess that is how the dealerships make all there money! They wanted to replace all kinds of gaskets and other items that I don't think are necessary.
Anyways...
I have been looking through the archives and I have also searched ITRsport, Edmund's and looked at my owners manual to try to find out what really needs to be done.
So far I have replaced the spark plugs, cleaned my air filter, and rotated tires
Here is what else I think I have to do:
Timing belt? (owners manual says 105,000miles/ Edmund's says 60,000miles)
Adjust valves? (Not clacking or making any noises)
Inspect and adjust drive belts
Inspect valve clearance
Oil change
Change transmission fluid
Adjust parking brake

that is very high. most of the cost comes from replacing the timing belt and water pump. but, that is not required for another 30k-40k miles. i would wait on that one. everything else seems legit. but shouldn't me more than 200 bucks.
rough prices from what i've paid at the honda dealership:
valve adjustment: $65
oil change: $20
transmission fluid (for an auto): $50
the various adjustments shouldn't be too much. i would take it to a shop that is reputable in honda motors, or even get a helms manual and adjust them yourselves.

60k mile services are big...$500 is probably a solid estimate from a dealer, considering they do everything under the sun that may possibly need doing.
Tbelt/Water pump is usually extra if I remember right, as it isnt included in the service.

they probably dont do half the things they are supposed to do. "inspect" is usually a word for visibly look at it. not take it apart. hah funny. i wouldnt pay that much to have those things done. i would recommend the timing belt, water pump, and valves done.

I just took my car into the dealership a few days ago for service since I just hit 81k and skipped the 75k maintenance. They did the following things:
Change Rotor/Cap/Plug wires
Change/Replace all fluids
Bled Brake lines
Inspect Brakes
Lube Suspension bolts, bushings etc
Rotate Tires
Lube Doors/hinges
Inspect Exhaust system
Inspect timing
The service guy tried to husle me into getting platinum plugs which were $18 a piece but I told him to put copper ones in there and that I'd change the oil/tranny fluid myself.
I ended up paying a little over $400 for the service. I kick myself in the *** right now but I really didnt have the time to search for local car shops since I'm a full time working student.
KYLE, where were you when I needed you?!?
I need to buy a damned Helms already.

Wow man, that really sucks. The only things they actually had to "do" anything was changing fluids, changed rotor/cap/wires (like 10 min), and bleed the brakes, and squirt some oil around. That really sucks. Oh well, ya live, ya learn.
