I have a 2.5" exhaust with an es oval and 16 inch resonator. The car has this buzz to it at low rpm's but goes away once the engine gets to 4k plus rpms. It is super annnoying if I mash the gas in the low rpm range.

This engine will be gone (1.5 dx) and repalaced with a d16 turbo in 3 weeks. Should I wait till I have a turbo, becuase I believe there is not enough exhaust flow with the 2.5" pipe to keep the rattling down.

Does anyone else have this problem??

 

Yeah, the problem is def. your exhaust piping. My friend's 92 H22 ran with a 2.5 and it was the worst. We replaced it with a 2.25 and also a Apex-i N1 universal and he has no more buzzing and better performance all around. What made you go with 2.5 on a Dx engine? Since you're gettin a turbo, I'd just wait it out and deal with it.

 

I went with 2.5 because I had to sell my greddy sp in order to get my engine that was going to be turbo'd. And I want a big exhaust on that turbo!

 

diagnosis: you have a d-series motor with too big of piping

my friend had 2" on his near stock d-series ( i know) and it sounded nice but then he went bigger to 2.5" when his old piping rusted out and it sounded worse, buzz and all.

It'll go away when you b00st it.
