Default Floor Chassis Bar

Wassup guys... I was just wondering if any of you guys had a floor chassis bar in their car. (Its the one that bolts up to the bottom bolt from your seat belt and goes across the floor and bolts to the other seat belt bolt.) Any testimonies? Any difference in stiffness? I pretty much did almost every suspension mod possible so far. I've got Tein SS, ST front and rear sways, ebay front and rear strut bars, dc rear lower tie, and energy suspension master kit bushing set. I just wanted to see if this floor chassis bar would help even more

It would be a good idea, if it actually connected to the frame more than at just a 12mm bolt. It's also too low in the cabin for it to actually be doing a ton of good, since the floor itself acts as a brace in a unibody car. All in all, it looks good, and ya, it could make a MINOR difference ....but it's not enough to spend $80 on. Also, if you're looking to improve stiffness, get a full roll cage, it's about the best option for you. Also, you probably would like to remove the front sway bar you're running, as in a FWD car you typically do not wish to have a front sway bar....and usually it's only beneficial to a FWD in the case of fast S-turns (slalom racing).

Its not worth it, don't waste your money on it. Its there for shows and to look pretty. The setup you have now is about as good as your going to get unless you want to go to a stiffer spring rate.

Or as 92lx says, add a full cage, which isn't exactly practical for a daily driven car...unless you plan on wrecking in the near future

I agree....minimal return on investment (if any). A used "real" rollbar/cage would be better (though that would make your car heavier - ). If I'm not competing, i say "f" the rollcage/bar. That's 80lbs i don't need and just another reason for a cop to pull me over for "visual obstruction".

If your really into doing your suspension right, the next step would be a derlin bushing kit from energy suspension (or whoever is doing it these days). Though it's a biatch to put them in (budget 4-6 hours + needing a press).

Bleh.

Thanx for the input guys... So no floor chassis bar eh? Thats what im doing at the moment. Energy suspension hyper flex master kit Too bad energy suspension doesn't have any bushings for the rear suspension availible which sucks but oh well. A guy had a testimony on his 92 accord and he stated it made a world of a difference on a 11 year old car in cornering That should be good enough for now.

Edit: I checked up on the delrin material. Says its almost like a hard plastic, used for full racing, but i heard they can break easily under daily driving which i typically do. So i think the polyurethane ones should be good.

hard plastic and racing do not mix well, especially on suspension flex parts

personally I think you over did it on the suspension mods

a good coil over setup and rear sway bar would have given you the same results

a cage basically stiffens everything up

I guess you're right, but then again the bushings were 11 years old. Polyurethane bushings would help. My car even with the the mods i had with sways, struts, tie, and tein ss coilovers still body rolled a bit. I would stand outside my car, get a hold of it and try to rock it, side to side and it would still move. Which made me think bushings and tires of course. Plus when i made turns (with of course stiffened up damping) the body would give a give and roll before stiffening up, which i didn't like. I mean whats not better than a old *** car getting new poly bushings and a good suspension setup? Oh yea like the other guy stated the cage would be bad for street driving, against all those cops that would be eyeing you. A lot of people on h-t probably have the same setup as i do, but i respect you're opinion
