How often should i change the automatic transmission fluid? Manual says every 30k. Is this too long?

 

If Honda says 30k, then that is just fine. They would never set a maintenance interval that was too long. If anything, some of them are too short.

Follow them and your car will last a very long time.

30k is a good interval for tranny fluid. Me personally, I'd probably change it every 15-20k just cuz I'm a nut about stuff like that, but 30k is perfectly fine. People complain about Honda automatics, but for the most part (meaning with the exception of some of the AV6 trannies that weren't the greatest to begin with), Honda autos will last the life of the car, however long that may be, without any problems if you simply change the fluid every 30k with Honda fluid, just like Honda tells you to do. It's just as important as changing your engine oil, it just gets neglected cuz there isn't all the hype about changing the tranny oil.

Just follow the maintence schedule and your car will last a looooooong time

 

I never do a full flush. Every other oil change I drain the tranny and fill it back up. Even with the turbo I see no extra metal shavings on the magnetic bolt.

 

Yes, a flush is not necessary unless the car was neglected. In that case, a flush wont fix anything that went wrong with the transmission.
