Default ecu questions

short and simple question...
i have 97 civic with a 01 gsr swap...will a p28 ecu work fine or do i have to get a p72 (gsr) ecu? the reason being is cause the p28 is already chipped so i would like to keep it but i heard only the p72 ecu will work with the secondary butterflies on the gsr manifold.

true p72 is the actual ecu on your gsr and the secondary will work provide that you hook up the iab wiring properly.

Well both will WORK.

If you want one that operates the GSR intake manifold crap though, then a p28 won't do it...

If i was in your situation id just keep the p28 and save up for an aftermarket intake manifold and do away with the secondaries.

i sent it out to locash racing and they changed the fuel maps, rev limt, enabled the iab's and switched the vtec crossover to the same specs as a p72. only thing it doesnt have is the knock sensor.

WAIT FOR THE AEBS INTAKE MANIFOLD AND KEEP THE P28!!!! Search and you will see that it has outperformed the Skunk2 on b16 and ITR motors. Also, there is no need to buy another ecu if you already have one that works fine. The only advantage of the p72 is the fact that it will control the butterflys which you will no longer have.

p28 will work, but on the same a 97 gsr or type r ecu is plug and play and doesnt need an adapter harness
