Default Valve lash quick question

I checked my valve lash. Tried to put in 0.006 feeler guage for my intake side, but it woudln't go all the way through and gets stuck in the middle. Isn't the feeler guage supposed to go ALL the way through with a slight amount of drag? So this means that my valve lash is too tight correct? TIA!

Yes.. Since the instructions say to tighten enough until you have "slight drag", basically the way to do it is to have the correct size fit in there, but the next size up not.

i guess my question is.. how do i know if it fits or not? the way i check is by sticking the feeler guage through one end, makes sure it goes out through the other end, and feel slight drag in the process. then that means the valve lash is okay right?

You can get "go/no-go" feelers that are tapered to the next size up. They click in for about 15mm and then remp up to the next size. These make it really easy to check on the "not too loose" end.

Your gauge should go through all the way, but keep in mind that it will be easier to pull the gauge out than it is to push it through. Measure the "slight drag" while pulling the gauge out, not while inserting it. It also helps to put a thin coat of oil on the leaf.

batoutahell: just the reply that i was looking for.. thanks. But why would it be easier to pull the guage out rather than to push it through? i measured the lash by pushing and pulling the guage

Once the gauge is inserted, you should be able to push/pull it to check the amount of drag. IMO pulling is easier and more accurate because it is easier to maintain the correct angle of the gauge, and you can exert a more constant force on the gauge when you are pulling it, as opposed to pushing it. When pushing the gauge, unless you maintain the proper angle (which can be difficult with a flimsy leaf gauge), you will be creating more friction, and not get an accurate reading.
