Steering problem still lingers
My ep3 is now going to the dealer for the sixth time. I have been having a cllunking noise everytime I turn my steering whell at speeds of 0 - 10 mph. i have had the left sring seat replaced and the motor mounts adjusted, lubing and re-torquing. The sound seems to come back only after i have driven it hard.It seems to be in the steering colum, but the dealer has only focused on the front susupension. I have checked the brake calipers and engine bay in case of something obvious. The car is stock and I am re-posting to see if anyone has had any type of the same thing. Please let me know of any "typical Civic" noises I should be aware of. Thanks again.
If it sounds like it's coming from the steering column, then it probably is. Follow the steering column down right before the firewall. Do you see two metal clamps? There should be two bolts there. Check and see if those bolts are tightened up to spec. If not, do so.
Thanks for the tip. When I go to the dealer I will have them go over the steering. I almost want them to replace the colum...I will find out soon.
