Last week we get nailed with -20c its frickin cold.... car gives off little to no heat. It only gets warm no heat. So we replaced the thermostat tonight and it seemed to all go ok.
But, there is no more heat then there was before and now another problem. The temp gauge is all over the place. It used to always go up to that half point and go no higher or lower. But tonight it was going up to 3/4's and then down to 1/2 and back and worth completely random. What gives.
Im taking it in to get the whole system flushed and hopefully that will fix the problem but given my luck the whole heater core is prolly toast
dam i hate my honda

did you bleed the air out of the cooling system? open the bleed valve on the thermostat housing and fill through the radiator completely with coolant until it seeps out the bleed valve - tighten bleed valve and fill the plastic coolant overflow bottle.
do you fill while running to get the bleed valve to work ? i heard you should do it running . maybe the heater core is clogged up or shot
your overheating problems can be caused by a lot of reasons. im assuming you dont have other symptoms of a blown head gasket like white smoke out the tailpipe. other things that would cause over heating is clogged radiator, bad water pump, or i think commonly just buying a new radiator cap.
but you should be getting heat out the vents if youre overheating. after checking to see if the heater valve (upper heater hose in the engine bay) is working, also check to see if the air mix flap is properly working too. im finding this to be the most common reason for no longer getting heat, but not the most common given answer. just crawl under the passenger side and look up under the heater to see the white lever and see if it moves with the heater ****. the other reason for no heat is a clogged heater core. this requires removal of the dash to remove the core, plus finding another core.
