Default shifter problem...

i dunno exactly how to explain this....but here goes...well...like when i'm driving, and i engage the clutch, and when it initially starts moving, the shifter sort of moves back and forth a little...has anyone had a weird problem similar to this?!?! What's going on with it? If anyone knows...how do you fix it?!?

Are you talking about the normal action of the engine cocking back and forth as you first accelerate? The shifter is directly connected to the transmission and moves with the engine.

Have you tried tightening the cable for the clutch...connected from the top of the tranny?

Mine seemed to move a bit more than normal when a mount went bad on my stock a6. Checked your kit lately?

look at your motor mounts, if they are exsecively worn teh engine could be rockign back and forth more then usual and that is why your shifter is also moving

hey i found out the problem!!! it was my engine mount rite above the tranny...it wasn't completely broken...but broken enough...so that when i engage the clutch and step on the gas pedal...the whole passenger side of the engine would move up and down....( i saw it cuz i took off the hood and test drove it)
thanx for the tips tho! prolly wouldn't have known without it hehe
