Default Motor Swap 2nite. Get this...read more..I need help!!

WTF. I thought I bought an ITR motor for my 2000 GSR. I'm getting ready to drop the motor in and the wiring doesn't match up. I look closely at the block and it's a 95 block....NOT A TYPE R. However, the tranny and manifold says P73 - Type R. BUT...this brings confusion into my wiring harness. OBD1 or OBD2? What do you use with the motor...? This is so confusing...HELP...what are your comments??? I know I got ripped...but I need this motor wired in regardless...what are your suggestions...

P72....or can that be a Type R...the date stamped on there is 95...manufactured late 94 or 95...Could it be considered a Type R block if it's JDM??

Look at the injector clips on the engine harness. Grey ones with wire clips are OBD-1 and black ones, no wire clips, that you can remove by squeezing the sides of the clip are OBD-2.

You can also look at the distributor plug. Two plugs is OBD-1 and one plug is OBD-2.

If you don't have the engine wiring harness, you can look for the CKF sensor plug by the crank pulley. If it's there, then it's OBD-2....altho I'm not sure if the JDM motors have that sensor.

P72 block casting is used for all B18C motors....ITR and GS-R.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by GirlyGirlGSR &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">P72....or can that be a Type R...the date stamped on there is 95...manufactured late 94 or 95...Could it be considered a Type R block if it's JDM??</TD></TR></TABLE> I don't think there is a year code on the block...there should be one on the head. which reads like 9)8.

GSR will have a funky looking intake manifold that looks like a shell. While the Type R will have a intake manifold that looks similiar to a skunk 2 Intake manifold. What's the block code? B18C1 or B18C which will be either a JDM GSR or JDM TYPE R.
