Volk Racing Extended Lug Nuts
Hi,
I have an oppurtunity to acquire a set of volk racing extended lug nuts (in black).
the end part is in the form of a circle / spherical.
Can i use them with my OEM JDM 16 inch alloys pls?
Or they won't be tightening properly or something pls?

Rgds,
right now these lug nuts are fitted to my frend's JDM civic type R 99 Spec.
his rims are oem 15". He didn't experience any problems with them on his oem wheels till now.
It came from japan with these lug nuts.
What do you think guys?
PS. I am not understanding what are acorn or tuner....if i remember well, one end was spherical like...the end which goes into the rim.....do you have any pics of how they should be for oem rims pls?

You're getting rims that use the second type of lug nuts pictured. You're asking to use the first type of lug nut pictured. Can you see why it's a bad idea?

Here's the volk extended lugs. Yours do not appear to be volk:

Rgds,
No you can not. OEM Wheels use a rounded seat, Aftermarket wheels and lugs have a V shaped seat. You'll only have a small area holding against your wheel and it will eventually eat away at the lug and can be very very dangerous.

Not unless there's some model that has rounded lugs instead of conical, and I think that Mike has sold enough to know if they exist.

But i saw Volk Racing on them and they're blaxk and open ended i'm 100% sure on that......the strange thing is was the previous japanese owner so stupid??
We think the car was used on tracks before cause it has a couple of track club stickers on it.....

rgds,

These are conical, and designed for wheels like Spoon, Volks, Kosei and just about everything other than the OEM Enkei wheels that came on the ITR. They're not for 15" USDM. They're not for 16" JDM. Sorry.
They'll work for a while. They might work forever. But they are not designed for the OEM wheels.

And these are the exact lug nuts that are sitting on my car...that's my picture there too
These are something that Mackin Industries is/will be importing, which also happens to be the Rays/Volk importer too.

Hi,
I have re checked the lugs........mmm they are not exactly like the pic
they are not so taperish.......the diametre remains the same in all its length...there is not a reduction towards the end of the lug like there is in the pic...............
I will post pics soon i hope.......they could be volk racing nuts only available in japan ?
thanking you,

Most likely it's a tapered seat style lugnut. I've never seen a ball/radius aftermarket lugnut.
Something else I have noticed is that McGard makes the factory ball/radius lugs/locks but they're aftermarket lugs/locks are only the tapered style.

Dude.....listen to George and Mike.
The only part of the lug that matters is the part touching the wheel. It does not matter what the top of the lug looks like. The only thing that matters is that your OEM wheels need an acorn nut. Which means that it is round at the bottom, not a tapered flat angle like the ones above.
Look at your OEM wheels, you see how the hole for the lugs are rounded??? As in not a flat angle???
The lugs will not seat properly with the above lugs. Only the very bottom of a volk lug will come in contact with the OEM wheel, which is dangerous.
Example: angled tuner lug on OEM wheel (\_/)
When it should be acorn into rounded lug hole like this (U)
And angled nut into angled lug hole like this \\_//
If you use the wrong lug nuts the contact area is about 15% of what it should be. Meaning that you have less area holding the same amount of weight/stress. Maybe on the street everything would be ok, but if there are any extreme conditions, you could damage the wheels or the wheels could come off. It's a bad idea all together. Go get some OEM lugs from the dealer or the junkyard.
If you don't like the chrome ones, black NSX lugs are nice and acorn style to fit your wheels.
