Theres like zero topics on final the type r final gear, I just want to know what benefits would i get dropin one into a gsr trans with type r lsd?? Worth the extra troubles or should i just leave it alone. Oh and while im posting , whats in the CrankCase Gasket Set, and do I have to change any oil seals when installin the type r lsd?
There is a shitload of topics on gearing here if you search the archives.
What do you mean by final gear though? The pinion or ring gear? Or both?
And which ones are you speaking about? JDM 98+ or USDM ITR?
There's no seals you need to replace when installing the LSD. You will only need to seal up the case again after you take it apart. Hopefully you have instructions on everything, because just dropping an LSD into a transmission that did not come with an LSD is not a plug and play type thing.
Not sure about a crankcase gasket set....

Search as mentioned for "Final Drive" in the ITR forum. There are s crapload of topics about this.
FYI, the 94-01 USDM GSR and ITR have the SAME FD 4.40.
But, the JDM 4.785 final is a step up.
If you want to get really serious the ATS 4.93 is where it's at.
Good luck.
