Default spoon magnetic drain bolts

Just wanted to confirm with you guys...I searched but couldn't get a definite answer. Does the longer magnetic drain bolt go in the oil pan or tranny? I'm hearing both answers. thanks guys.

the long one wouldnt fit in my transmission.

it hits something in there and wont tighten.

it was impossible to install them improperly in my car.

How did you break it like that?
