Default car revs and falls, revs and falls, what is it doing?

Alright, the car has some trouble starting, dunno why. Also when it does start, sometimes the car will just sit there and rev by itself, rev up falls to a grand, revs up, falls to a grand. also if i go driving around, or if the car just sits there, then the motor will slowly start to rev up, not, past 2k though, nothing past that. When i drive that throttle seems to stick every once in a while and eventually after i drive it a bit and cools down, then it does not stick anymore. Any and all info to help me fix all of this crap would be great, its got a new motor, so i did not want to have to deal with all this bullsh!t, but apparently, it is determined to pi$$ me off.

Thanks,
Matt

some things to try:

try loosing your throttle cable start the car and while its running adjust the cable.

also whats your idle at?

I bet you idle screw has backed out...check that to see as that will make your idle go up and down.

Could also be IAC (EACV) related.

I had the old motor in and it never did that, but since the new motor, it does it all of the time now. Why do you think it would have just started with the new motor, any idea?

i replaced it and everything was perfect...idle...rev...everything....i got ripped off though...the place i got it at said they couldn't just get the sensor itself...so i had to buy a completely new throttle body which was just a waste of money...but i had no choice...dont ask...d=D
