Default D16Z6 VTEC (mini me) Swap

Has anyone done this? I am having trouble finding a distributor for this application. The D16Z6 is OBD-1 wiring, but I left the original 0BD-0 wiring on the car. I need a distributor that will bolt on to a D16Z6 but that has OBD-0 wiring. Any suggestions? Do I need to swap my wiring harness too?

first welcome to Honda-tech and this has been research many times so don't forget about the search function. https://honda-tech.com/zerosearch

Well there are a couple different ways to do this. You can use a Y8 head and A6 injectors and A6 mani but I'd recommend getting a PR4 ECU and the A6 dizzy should bolt up but won't bolt up to the Z6. For VTEC you'll need to get a RPM activated switch

If you are going to switch to OBD1 then you can use the Z6 head, Z6 mani, and dizzy but you'll have to get the injector's + resistor box and use the P28.

Anyway you look at it it's recommended that you convert to OBD1 to do a mini me. Get a blownhatch harness there not that expensive or make your own

Correct me if I'm wrong , good luck man

I am having problems with my z6 swap. There is an obd0 distrib on the obd1 motor which kinda makes no sence to me but anyways I can get power sometimes and I lose it alot and the car will stall. Some1 said I need clips to change the distrib wiring to obd1 and get the right distrib but I dunno. Please help.

so your running the PM6 and the A6 dizzy? how are you bolting up the Dizzy to the Z6? also are you still running the A6 injectors or did you add the Z6 injectors with resistor box?

I was told that a ZC JDM distributor would bolt on to a Z6 head and that it also has OBD0 wiring. I am not sure this is true or where I would even get one. What is a blownhatch wiring harness? What is a dizzy? What is a mani? Sorry I am new to the forum.

check out the write up like he said. just fyi i'm using A6 mani(intake manifold) and dizzy(distributor) to a Z6 head and needs minor fabrication but works fine. but if you use the A6 dizzy you can't mess with the timing. if your getting ZC i think you have to reorganize ur pins in the harness.

So you are saying an A6 dizzy will fit a Y8 head 100%? Currently I am using an A6 dizzy on my Z6 head but it is "jimmy rigged" so that it will work. Will a Y8 head bolt on to a Z6 bottom end? Is there any performance difference?

How do you have your A6 dizzy bolted on to your Z6 head? What ECU and injectors are you using?

put dizz on head.. put top bolt on the head... turn the dizzy until the top leg hits the bolt from behind (rear of engine)
tighten it up, and cut enough from te front leg to get it also tight
use 88-91 civic crx prelude, accord, integra OBDO injectors
