Default Liquid Filled Gauges

What kind of liquid is used in liquid filled gauges?
Its not water is it? Because that would be bad in the winter.

What type is the B&M Fuel gauge? It doesnt say on their website and Ive searched.

Liquid-filled gauges are mechanical. There's a sealed fluid inside the gauge, and usually inside the tubing leading over to the process being measured. Then there's a seal diaphragm to keep the seal fluid from leaking out & mixing with your engine oil or whatever.

Usually the seal fluid is some kind of oil. I didn't know automotive gauges were available like that. I've only seen industrial process-measurement instruments like that...

Maybe what B&M really means is that their gauge is intended to be compatible with engine oil being inside the gauge itself.

HAHAHA - I just saw what Muckman posted. Now I get it... They probably do that do dampen any wild vibrating motion of the needle.
