ok let me start this out by saying i drive like an *******. on the way to school today i tried to put my car in first and it wont go in. so i start in second (mind you its a cx)after the blistering 30 seconds it takes to start moving i try to put it in third and the shifter wont come out of second. its like its stuck between second and third. i got the car to school and im hoping if i let it sit for an hour and cool down i can make it to work or home. i think i can pick up a new tranny for like fifty bucks from a friend

 

sounds like you might have broke one or more of those glass shift forks. or it could be a problem with the linkage somwhere.

 

I had that problem and eventually it started poping out of gears. New tranny was the answer.
