timing belt install \ tdc question
ok, i just did my first timing belt/balancer belt installation on the h22a engine that I'm about to swap into my 93si. I have a question about it and would like some advice from the experienced on what I should do.
Before I even removed anything, I set piston 1 to tdc. I noticed that when the up arrows on the cam pulleys were straight up, the up arrow on the timing belt crank pulley was off a little, a degree or two, as compared to the cam pulleys.
So i went ahead and replaced the timing belt. I marked everything, so i put the new timing belt on *exactly* like the old timing belt was. Then I got to thinking, maybe the old one was not on right, and if so, I should fix it now before I put the engine in. Also, I just got the engine, so i have no idea if the timing belt or anything has ever been touched or not. Nor have I even seen it run before either.
So, my question is, is this difference between the up arrows on the timing crank pulley and the cam pulley ok? Should I go ahead and check the timing mark on the flywheel (which i probably shouldve done anyway), or even use the socket extension on cylinder 1 to make sure piston 1 is at tdc?
thanks

when the white line is lined up with pointer on timing belt cover the crank is set to TDC make sure the cam gears are in the up spot when this is done timing is set
