Default Empty wallet. Not happy. 2.0L time? Long.....

Well - Over the last two and a half years I have dumped thousands and thousands of dollars into my ITR like so many others here. At first my mods were simple, somewhat cheap and effective. I was happy with my setup and I strapped my ITR on the rollers and put down 174whp with a solid I/H/E combo. I was impressed, but tasted for more power. SO

Fast Forward a year plus later and THOUSANDS of dollars lighter.

My car only puts out 5 more WHP, and a handful more of torque. Sure I can rev to the heavens, and brag about all my parts but you know what? They don't make that much difference.

So I am at the cross roads now. What to do? What am I missing? My setup if anyone cares is roughly as follows.

JUN 3 cams
JUN ECU
Toda gen 2 cam gears
Mugen HG
Valve springs, tit retainors, ect
Toda Clutch/flywheel
JDM DC header/Mugen CAI/Tanabe RM exhaust all restrictions cut out.
Apex VAFC/BM FPR ect
( I love my mugen lowdowns and volks )

I am now at my final stand I think. 2.0L. For those who have gone the 2.0L road. Was it worth it? How much did it cost you? How did you go about doing it?

I love my car and don't want to 'give' my parts away in the classified section like I see a lot of people doing. I hope I can make them work. I would like a 200WHP car. Thanks for reading

JUN 3 cams. no need for these cams. stage 1's will make plenty of power
JUN ECU. go hondata
Toda gen 2 cam gears. have u had these tuned?
Mugen HG
Valve springs, tit retainors, ect. i assume jun springs/retainers?
Toda Clutch/flywheel
JDM DC header/Mugen CAI/Tanabe RM exhaust all restrictions cut out. I have no idea why would think of this as a decent setup. at least get a midlevel header and not one the cheapest things out there
Apex VAFC/BM FPR ect. sell it and go hondata.

</TD></TR></TABLE>

in my opinion i always like to run a smaller cam and increase air flow. i would rather spend more money on a better intake manifold and header compared to risking it with big cams and the problems that can be from them.

I would look into the rlz, jg, or aebs intake manifold and a better tb, rc310 injectors, and a better header that suites your tastes.

im not sure who has tuned your whole setup, but once you get hondata in there, it will make a big *** difference.

if your only making 5 more with that long list of goodie parts, your tuner should have his head checked.

Before you do anything try a different tuner along with a Hondata.

You should be well over 200whp, Lose the JUN ecu, get Hondata s200 + Good Tuner.

Lot of itr owners have made near 200 whp w/ just I/H/E/slight tuning.

Sell the Jun ecu and vafc and get a stand alone unit. And, larger injectors like others have mentioned.

yup, like everyone else said, its all in the tuning. I think that ECU is holding you back, and I think you are at the point now where you should run a stand alone set up, or atleast Hondata, which will give you much more tuning flexibility. You should be up around 190+whp with that set up. You might not even need injectors, but if you get them, go with prelude 290cc (I think). Or maybe 370cc, they shouldnt be overkill and will allow room for more power later on.

basically...u should b over the 200whp range...i say 210 at the most....funny thing is that ive seen people with basic 2.0L setups hit 210 with ctr cams and good tuning and a good exhaust system...

With stock compression you should be in the high 190s.

To hit 200s you need to bump compression with domed pistons.

Ditch the JUN ECU and get Hondata

you're missing:
-injectors(310 or 440)
-hondata
and some good tuning.

if budget allows, drop in some high c/r pistons, but that's big money.

i highly doubt you'll break 200whp, but mid 190's.

I am thinking you should of been to 200hp but have you had the car tuned by a reputable tuner?

That would be cool if a Hondata could solve my problems. Which model of Hondata is the best for the money? Several people have reccommended the S200 already.

My compression is my head is fine also, so it's not the head.

So a starting checklist-

- Hondata
- 270 or 310 injectors (Looks like 270cc would be the better choice)
- A good tuner (Not sure one exists in the Seattle area)

Right now my budget would not allow me to do any piston work. That would have to be down the road quiet sometime. I would really like to get to 200whp without touching my bottom end. I know a lot of people have done it.

Do you guys think the JUN3's are to much for a motor without a shitload of compression? Sometimes I think they might be.

Thats for the link. They are about a 3+ hour drive from me. If they are able to extract 20+ whp out of my car it's worth the drive though. Maybe I need to talk to BFR about getting hooked up with them.

Carb Connections in Kirkland Washington tunes with hondata. ive heard some good stuff about them but i havent personaly used them. but if that other person says stage 5 in vancouver is a good tuner i would most deff.. take the trip out there. its almost a good 2 hour drive if theres no traffic at the boarder.

Man, I told you on the dyno day, get a hondata and tune your gears and you'll be in the high 190's and maybe even low 200's.
