ITS NOT FREE, trust me i took my stero and my title to 2 diffrent dealers and they both wanted 90$ to look up the code.
sometimes the code is printed in the car somewhere.
mine was a sticker on the bottom of the lid of the fuse box under the hood.
my friends was a sticker on the bottom of his ash tray. and ive heaed sometimes its inthe glove box also

That's ridiculous that they charged $90. They don't have to give it out for free, but alot of dealerships do. Call around and ask them to look up the number for you, you don't need to go in.

look in your glove box or ashtray for a white sticker with two different numbers on it. if you find this sticker then its the number that has 5 digits. i had to do this after they took out my battery to work on my air conditioning. and they wanted to charge me for the codes too. i said no way in hell.
just call them and tell them that you're so and so with some stereo shop. then tell them you were working on an alarm install and disconnected the battery so you're going to need the unlock code for it. it's worked for me several times when i really was an installer...
