Default ITR deluxe stealth radar install (BIG pics)

Girlfriend lives in North Caroline, and the drives to see her were getting to me. So i invested in a new Valentine V1 and Concealed display. Did a little research on here to see how guys were hiding them on the board, knowing i would have to since Virginia isnt radar friendly. Decided the concealed display behind the clock would be very stealth as other have figured out too. But, i didnt want to waste having to cut a hat and put it in the back shelf, or cut into my third brake light. So i came up with this.

CD case from visor anyone?

Whats inside?

Yup, the Valentine has a rear antenna that i took into account too.

And the front.

The concealed display on, at night. Sorry i didnt catch any of the arrows on or anything, but it looks pretty nice.

I hid the wires underneath the dash and in the A pillar. Only thing i really need to do is get the remote audio adapter to control the volume and turn it off in case a cop would somehow get suspicious. Thoughts?

Ok,

Looks like it would defeat it's optics though. At least the rear.

Had one, got it stolen, was happy with it but, feel that it creates a false sense of security/immunity. The V1 is quality engineering though.

for your DIY

Having (using) a radar detector in VA has gotten me in more trouble than virtually anything else!

I don't see the use of hiding one other than to prevent its theft.

IMO, that's the ONLY reason.

NOVA is a lot tougher im sure than these blacksburg and NC cops i run into. In NOVA it will be off. I figure the 40 dollar fine for using one in VA was worth the benefits. And hiding it was a anti theft and also for piece of mind.

They didn't give my Passport 8500 back this time.
I'll be getting a V1 next, and just not use it (or even have it plugged in!), in VA any more.

Nope, and I wasn't even speeding at the time.

Took it down and had it sitting on the seat beside me on the GW Parkway.
Forgot to turn it off and/or or unplug it!

nice work but during the daytime, wouldn't a cop be somewhat suspicious if he saw a thick wire coming out of the cd case?

I've use one daily for the last 3 years in Va. Its all about how far you're willing to take it. I paid $500 to get mine professionally installed. Its hella stealth.
