here goes.. i am wondering if a F23A1 (sohc)will fit into a CRX, if not directly is it possible ,if so what are the neccesary steps that have to be taken to make it work.,
for example if i have a d16,could i sway just the block and head (ONLY) and make it work or is that imposible....newbie to hondas and this site so leave the flaming alone please.

no its a SOHC vtec accord engine.

and the engine is a dog in the accord but would go pretty good in your EF.

the head swapping idea WILL NOT work and the installation of the motor will be a bitch b/c noone makes a mount kit.

if you intend on welding custom mounts giver **** but other then that its more hasstle then its worth i think

Then I would say to trash that idea, get a SOHC vtec Civic engine instead....

Well the nice thing about the F23 is you'd have quite allot of torque.

I have no idea if you could make it work. But a few things to consider when you want a hybrid car:

- Trannies are not compatible from one series to the other (not to my knowledge anyways)....so no b tranny to f etc..
- A crx is OBD0, much simpler to swap an OBD0 motor than OBD1 or 2
- THat f23 will most likely weight in quite heavy, which will add allot of weight to the front end of an allready missbalanced car.
- Make sure you can get mounts for the motor...cause welding some could be a hassle, and if you dont do it right, you could bend / break axles and so on.

As for the b20, a buddy of mine did it....nice swap...expensive...but nice. He CRVTEC'd it tho with a b16 tranny. The car pulled crazy....but didnt produce much HP. I think it dynoed at 171 HP at the wheels and ran a 13.7. Its an expensive swap, but it was definately unique and had allot of torque. Sounded like a truck at idle.

anything is possible with loads of cash!!! but that engine is a dogg! even if put into a crx it will still be a dog!!! why do you think the accord owners put the 200hp H series in???

why not just do an f22b1..143 ft lbs and 142 horsepower, all you need is h22 mounts.

Hey Sodacan.... Props for inspiration, but I think the best idea would be to trade that accord engine for a b_series. The headaches you'd have with engine placement and axle alignment would be significant. You'll find enough challenges w/ the B-series install to keep you interested.... even with all of the kits and knowledge that place racing and hassport can provide!

i'd say stick with the norm. its a proven process. besides, if you have problems with that, not many people will be able to help you... on top of that, there aren't nearly as many parts out there.

if you do deciede to do it, let us know and document that with pics and some writing. let us know!

the f22b is an ex accord motor. It bolts in just like any h-series..they can be found for 600 complete swap...and my buddy is running 5 psi and it pulls like a mother in his 3100 lb accord..i cant imagine what it would do in a rex.

I have a friend that is currently dropping a sohc vtec f22 in his hatch. He also is trying to use a d-series tranny. He got a custom flywheel done and a lot of other parts done. He is almost done with tha car.
