Default B18C5,6,7 differences ?

Lookng to buy a JDM Type-R, want to find out more about the differences between B18C5 and B18C6,7. I was told the only diff. is the final drive ratio, anything else? How can I tell which is which, are there suffix (e,g, B18C5 or B18C7)? How to distinguish JDM and US?? Thanks a lot

The 96 spec jdm ITR motor and the 98 spec jdm ITR motor had differences such as final drive, and a few component differences such as the header. It's generally assumed that the 98 spec is the better motor to have but will also cost a few hundred more.

1996 spec R motors (B18C) with 4.40 finals are faster out the box everyone I have dynoed has produced 3-7 hp more than the 1998 spec R motors even with the 4-1 compared to the 4-2-1 but it could also be that there are more miles on the 96 motors. So maybe they arnt as tight.

Check the intake manifolds and if the head reads pr-x where x = a number.
The header also is different.

ITR head is pr3...also you can pull the head and look at pistons. IKf you see a pr3 head on a b18c you can also look at the springs for dual.
