I'm planning on bringing my soon-to-be-tuned integra to the 1/4 mile track soon, and I was wondering what I should do to get them to hookup their best. It's getting colder and I don't know if the Maryland tracks are even open, but I'd like to try. My setup will be as follows:

stock LS integra motor, hondata tuned with 10psi to 230-250whp. 205/50/15 Falken Azenis mounted on GSR swirlies. I still have stock suspension and open differential.

What pressure should I put the tires at? Any burnout? Also what launch techniques work best for you guys? I'm hoping to cut a 2.1 or better 60'.... but with the weather dipping lower and lower, that might not be possible.

I would probably start your tire pressure at 20lbs and try a mild launch (3000-4000) rpm. If you are getting a lot of tire spin launching at that rpm, lower the pressure a couple pounds and try again. If you bog the first time out with a mild launch, leave the tire pressure and launch at a higher rpm. Hopefully you will get a bunch of runs in your first time out so you can play around with different settings. You may find launching at 5000rpm with 18psi is better than 6000rpm with 16psi. If you can't help but spin the tires no matter what pressure you are running on, try feathering the clutch a bit.

 

Turbo set-up you will want to start at 16psi and you will HAVE to feather. Droping the clutch boosted you will bog or spin wildly. I run 16psi and the tires don't even look flat. I haven't gone lower they that do. I do about a 2-3 sec heat up as well.

you are talking about using azenis right? i've heard regular tire pressure is the best way to go with the stiff sidewalls.

 

Yes I am and not from what I've seen. I've ran them at 36psi (daily) and pulled a best 2.28. 16psi yielded The only 2.1's on those tires I've been able to get. My friend also pulled 2.1's @ 20psi and couldn't pull any better then a 2.32 @ daily 38psi.

 

i pulled a 2.109 60' @ 26PSI! i have to practice feathering the clutch, that might help lower the times!
