Default Advancing the timing

What is most you would advance a D15 and a D16 from the stock timing. What should I except to gain or lose? and What will the total timing be at when I am done?

Thanks

like he said you wont gain anything form it. not on a d15 or d16. its not worht the risk of advancing timing. just listen and dont be stubbron and do it anyways. save some money and get a better motor or at least spend money on MODS that will actually give real gains instead of cheap free mods like that that dont do anything

if your going to advance go no more then 2 deg. towards the firewall, your only possible improvement will be throttle response

Gets some serious mods, cam cam gear internals then play with the ignition timing thats the only time when it is useful. Not for lil things like intake and exhaust. You will learn alot here on HT

Advancing the timing won't do anything if you dont' do it right. I.E. - Let the car warm up, jump svc connector etc.... Manual recomends stock timing +/- 2 degrees.

Example B-Series 14-18 degrees. D-Series not sure.

d series is the same.. just leave it at 16 degree.. no use ******* with it.. i dont even do it to any one of my b series motor..cause there is no improvement..better off getting new spark plugs..plus leaving the timing as manufactures specs .. is fo maximum hp and max feul economy.. that is the whole purpose..unless u got cams and ****..

You can start off with the basic Mods on ur D16. I/H/E. then get a skunk 2 intake man. 62 mm throttle body. Then go to the head. Get it cleaned up. New valvetrain, get a good head job 3 angle valve job. A nice cam like the zex street/strip cam. a cam gear. Then Get a VAFC and tune it. If your not happy with that then time to get to the guts of the motor. There are nameless combonantions you can do with rods and pistons. But its all up to you. After that if you arent satisfied go FI. there ya go bucko

What car is this.. If its a dx crx you could do the mpfi swap.. If you have a D15B2 or B7 block you could do the mini-me vtec swap on it..

I was told that advancing the Distributor 2 degrees would help improve the D16Y8. Any truth to that?
