Default Best route to a faster accord.

This is my first post, but I have been reading and searching through this site for a while. I have been driving a 97 LX, and have already messed with i/h/e on my f22b2... plus slushbox. I wanted to know if it is better to trade my car for a obd2 5 GEN (94-95) manual and do an H22 swap, or if it is not too much more work to do a manual conversion and obd2-obd1 conversion on my current ride with an H22 swap. Either way, I am looking to keep the 4door, and make it a quick sleeper.

From what I have read, the swap is a pain in the *** if you do not have a lift, grinder and wiring diagrams. I have not done a swap before, and will consider taking it to a shop to save time and money (All the extra parts needed and tools: I think shops can do for 3500-4k). Let me know if you have done the swap yourself or if you know of a GOOD shop on L.I. or Jersey. If you have not done the swap before, please don't tell me how easy it is. I have seen tons of swap headaches, and would like to be realistic.

I did consider turbo f22b2, but I think I will only get about 195/195 on stock internals if I am lucky. And all that DYNOing and TUNING.. And the auto-tranny....

Thanks.

you got it.

auto tranny is garbage. If i was in your situation i would either:

A.) Swap tranny/engine out for h22a ( )
B.) Buy a new 5-speed accord and boost the F22 ( )
C.) Sell it all and buy a horse ( )

I would swap the tranny for a 5speed and turbo the f22. You will be amazed how much you can get of that engine.

AT sucks. F22 is underrated. Doesn't mean it can't go places. Best option is to do a H22 manual swap. The F22 is a good motor, but from my experience, the availability of performance parts for the F series motor is a lot more limited. Everytime I built mine, never held right cause no one seems to know how to build them right. But if you opt to stick with it, it's a pretty decent motor.

You can keep the AT until you can afford to swap it out. The motor is decent. I've been running the same AT for 4 years and I boosted 3 of those 4 and it's still going. I beat most N/A Honda's out there. (Those occasional pocket rockets are just too damn light) I have a F23, but there isn't much difference.

trade your car..doing a swap w/ a 5sp conversion should only be done when your auto tranny is blown. if you just want to go faster, sell it for something faster.

sell teh car and shop around for a 4 dr 5 spd 94 or 95 accord. i have seen em as cheap as $3k iin excellent shape. if you car is in great shape i bet you can get 5 to 6 thousand for it...
drive up to quebec and pick out a nice h22a swap (cheaper and you can pick a better one than the ones they send most likely).
then swap away. i dont think swaps are that hard, but i have done8 or 9 in the past year. my first was done at a shop and when i had to redo almost everything they had done wrong (they only got the mounts right) i decided to never pay someone who more than likely knows less than i do.

Nice Numbers

I would Sell the car and buy a Manual and go from there. AT-MT swap is not impossible but there is more to worry about IMO

What are you looking to get for your 95/93h22swap? Where are you? Got pics? Umm.. I was wondering...

My friend said that a stock h22 prelude is gonna be slower than a accord h22swap. is this true? will the accord handle as well if you put in a decent suspension (sway, strut, coilover)?

I dont think so bc a accord is not a sports car like the lude is. Weight is a big factor.

prelude is a ******* tank. the 4th gens weigh the same as a 4door accord, maybe a tad more. They are at or above 3000lbs compared to a 2744lbs accord coupe. (5th gen)

Keep the accord slow, buy a bike if you want to go fast..

Thats the solution for everyone that wants to go fast (and die).

Nate.

it's cheaper to buy an accord that has already been swaped than to buy another 5sp accord and then do a swap.

buy a car that is mean to be fast

a 4cyl cant pull 3000lbs very quick unless you put a lot of money into it

i have $3k into my Civic (including the price of the car) and will beat most turbo Accords. i made 221hp/238ft/lbs in my turbo Accord and my Civic would beat it

I vote for this. Don't ditch that auto tranny till/if it dies. 3-4k buys a whole nuther' car.

Otherwise, shop around for a cherry 94-95 OBDI 5spd 4dr. Weight is the enemy (but that becomes less-so as you get older and stop caring about stop-light drags and start caring about power windows/moonroof/quieter ride).

Am I getting old?
