Default Spoon N1 muffler question....

I noticed that some of the N1 comes with a polished muffler and some don't. Is the non-polished one the older model? I guess that the polished ones are made of stainless steel? What is the other muffler made of?

Both are Stainless Steel

The Poslished one is the New one I suppose. Someone on another site said that the one purchased in US are not polished where the ones in Japan are. I don't believe this. Don't see why Spoon would make two types of Silencers

Unless they all start unpolished and they sent them to the US and said we have to polish our own LOL

All of the Spoon N1s I've seen (including the one I have), seem to have a polished tip but a brushed look on the muffler itself.

besides looks, is there a noticeable difference in performance between the older and newer designs? or maybe "loudness"?

Okay now you can say you have seen the Polished one
Not my car I got this from another MB this guy says he got it from Japan so Hmmm Hard to believe that the polished ones are only for JDM customers

Mine doesn't have the polished muffler and it is the newer design w/o bottlenecks.

Maybe it's true then. The guy Just bought his direct from Spoon in Japan and it's polished.
The one in the Spoon Catalog is not polished and it is the old style. Are you sure the US shop where you purchased it from is not the ones modifying the pipe to get rid of the bottle neck? (just a thought)

The new one still has a bottleneck. Check the inside.

unpolished looks nicer

I worked very hard to make my muffler dull looking...I did it by not washing it

are you referring to the bottleneck? the picture is at a different angle so you can see the bottleneck inside, but overall the piping is 2.5 and then 2.25 at the bottlenecks i believe.

I spoke with the guy on the other Site and he said he bought it in Japan. Not sure why some are polished and some are not. Also the unpolished one looks larger or is that just the picture????

JDM ITR and USDM ITR Piping is the Same Diameter, just the JDM version has a longer section to connect to the cat due to a shorter cat.

There is no US version of the Spoon N1 or any other Spoon part.

The "Bottleneck people pointed out above is hardly something to worry about unless you have a heavily modded engine. It is designed so that it can bolt up to an OEM B pipe so it needs a flange that will do so and meet up correctly with the OEM Dougnut gasket. That is the only section where the piping gets smaller, the rest of it is 2.5"

The Unpolished canister is the N1 made for spoon by their Old exhaust manufacturer. Spoon's New Manufacturer is the one making the polished canister.

Hope that clears everything up

All Spoon N1's are made of SS, as well as their B pipes and Headers.
