gauge problems

gauge problems
i bought a a/f ratio gauge. i have already hooked it up. when i am on the gas it reads that it is almost all the wayrich, but when i let off the gas it reads all the way lean. is it suppost to do that or do i just have it hooked up wrong.i have it hooked to my secondary 02 wire. i tried the other o2 wire and it did the same thing.
