Default no power past 40mph... clutch?

drove home from school today... no problems, wehtn to go to the gym an hour later and i cant get any power... i give it gas while in second and it just revs... i try third and get a little faster but still just revs... happens in all grears so i just turned aroudn and drove home... a place about 20 min from my house said they can look at it, is it ok to drive it there and back? does this sound like a clutch problem ?

Either a clutch or your axle may be slipping out

well just had a guy at a transmission shop drive it, said it was my cat all clogged up and clutch isnt slipping at all well thats good news, even better honda covers their cats with a 8 year 80,000 warrenty, so i will get it replaced for free... when i called to see how much one cost its like $1018.00 i laughed...

WOW! A clogged cat allows your car to rev up higher and feel like a slipping clutch?

That's the most bogus **** I've ever heard.

My advice would be to never go back there again.

If your rpms are going UP while you're in gear and your car isn't moving any faster, that means clutch. Not catalytic converter.

if it was the converter it would also make your Engine run a hell of a lot harder and hotter cuz it but your engine wouldnt just rev. It gotta be your clutch or your tranny, one or the other, maybe im wonrg but that only sounds right.

that makes ZERO sense to me!!!! how could a part of the exhaust cause trouble in ur tranny? hell, i drove without a cat for almost a year, and my car drove fine, other than the code.

No cat is different than a clogged cat.

how is a clogged cat going to do that? all its gonna do is prolly throw a cel since your emissions will be more tha 1.5 times normal and u will lose power and gas mileage. imo i think u should go back to that shop and kick the guy who said that square in the *******.

true, but what would that have to do with a motor revving while in gear and barely moving?

Dunno. There were drug dogs at my school and they freaked out on my car. So they called me out to the parking lot and they searched it. They found 1 seed (wasn't marijuana). And they then told me to go back to class. When I left for home at the end of the day I noticed my clutch had no pressure, when I pushed it in it stayed in. After working it for a minute or two I got pressure back and I drove home, but the clutch was slipping. I also found a mysterious male adapter for an air compressor after they were in my car. To make a long story short, I think the cops planted it, or just checked my car because I had a civic with an Apexi Dunk, and everyone knows people with Civics buy/use drugs.

understanding how a clutch works will tell you the answer.

Absolutely nothing. I just thought that on the topic of clutches, and since his problem seemed to be solved, I wouldn't make a new thread and just post that little tidbit here.

Maybe 500 or so if you have a DX or similar with the Cat in the Exhaust manifold, but damn..1000 bucks for a cat...Id tell them to go **** themselves. Whoever told you that your cat was causing this is dead wrong. Check your slave cylinder and your clutch.
