Default Paint or Vinyl for track only car?

I've been slowly preparing my car for Sprint/Touring races in Canada (Ontario specifically) over the last few years while I competed in Solo 1. As part of the preparation one of the last few details I need to hammer out over the winter is whether to go with a simple paint design or use vinyl to make the car stand out for me and potential sponsors. I've used some vinyl in the past but I've found that it tears easily if something comes into contact with it i.e. marbles, small debris on the track, etc. My paint job is original and seems to have faired quite well over the last 4 years of Solo 1 events and lapping days so I'm leaning towards a paint job.

Has anyone out there had experiences with both and if so, what feedback can you give?

Thanks!

I'd say vinyl is the way to go. Much less of a pain to change should it get damaged, and easier to update if you want to change the graphics on the car.

I have had no problem with the vinyl on my car over the past 2+ years of racing. If you need help with a design contact Dan Beeson ... beesondesigns.com

Yeah, I'm all for vinyl d00d. Your paint is too pristine to cover it up. Maybe after you get a few wrinkles and your car starts to look like mine. The cool thing with vinyl these days is you can do crazy shizzo by printing on vinyl, like how they make those cars that have pictures of shizzo all over them. There's so much cool stuff to do with vinyl!

If the car needs painted, stick to a simple scheme (one or two colors).

Then use vinyl for anything fancy.

Dude, thats awesome man. I did a really good job on my car for my last event out of duct tape, and electrical tape. Only problem is that it started taking off clear coat, but no worries here, my paint is already gone.

Nice...MR2s with non-metallic paint didn't come with clear coat, so no issues there. Also, the adhesive wasn't strong enough to leave anything a rag couldn't wipe off with some effort.

Also, in that pic....the wheels are spray painted, and they are currently gold after getting tired of them being black all last year.

I guess my joke wasn't so clear...but rappers like Burberry, it's plaid, and it's expensive, so it's part of their bling-bling collection.
