Car keeps turning off??
Hi, I have a 96 Accord LX auto , when i drive it randomly the car will turn off in the middle of the street while moving (5-70mph).. I took off the alarm and it didn't help. I know some 95-96 models had ingnition problems but i dont think mine was covered in it. Its like all of the sudden u are driving and the gas pedal wont work anymore and then the car just dies and take like 15 sec to restart.. there are no engine codes.. does anyone know what might be wrong?? ECU, key ingnition?? Thanks for the help.. I also tired resetting the ecu all ready also the car is stock except for intake and headers and exhaust.
If you can check for spark when it does it, that would help. Offhand, it sounds like maybe the ignitor or the ignition coil. The family Civic would die outright like you describe when the ignitor was going, but it could be a number of other things as well. Fuel delivery also comes to mind, but I don't know of many fuel components that will just die outright like that and then come back.
