Steering Wheel Spacer
ok i'm 6'0" and i like my legs out, but i hate having my arms extended uncompfterably. i've seen steering wheel spacers, but heres my problem. i want to keep my airbag, and my stock wheel. is there some way to extend the steering wheel on my 1994 honda accord lx?
here's what a guy made for his CRX out of big washers and exhaust piping:

couldn't i make something, i have access to a metal shop.
make something like this: ()o=|=o[
the "()" is the steering wheel, the "[" is the steering colum.
you'd first make this -> o=|=o, and this is two pieces the extention "o=|" and the steering colum mount "|=o"
you'd bolt the mount to the steering colum like so "|=o[" then bolt the two peices together like so "o=|=o[", then you'd just bolt the steering wheel to the extention like so "()o=|=o["

Your username is DIYaccord and you got access to a metal shop hahaha. Why not try it and tell us how it goes. Probably also gotta extend a few wires but you can do it. I BELIEVE IN YOU.
well, i'm just asking anybody who has swaped they're 5th gen steering wheel for an aftermarket one...does it seem possibe?
btw, they're no way in hell i'm touching my SRS wires

I just had the wheel off our 92 accord recently. Seems to me you might be able to find another wheel at a junkyard for a "spline extension". Didn't stare at things long enough to make sure wires would reach, etc.
Slice the splined section off the donor wheel, drill out the existing wheel's splined section (so the bolt will fit inside), weld/fasten existing on top of spline extension. I didn't notice materials so welding might not work. Might be better to pin the two together and use a longer bolt.
Of course this will void any warranty and open the liability question should situations arise...
Good luck
Dave

i believe in you too!! do it! youshould be able to make a female/male spline extension, but then there are wires to extend via the electrical spool in the steering column. but it can be done. didn't know you worked at a metal shop. you shouldn't have a problem with that!! but why not upgrade your steering wheel while you're at it? plus, your turn signals are going to be super far away now..

well, thanks all for the support
first off, i don't wanna mess with wires if i don't have to
also, i don't work fo a metal shop, i just have a senior high school class
(i'm only 17
)
also, i can't upgrade to a new steering wheel because of parents and because of money

Honestly, DIY, given your situation I'd leave it as is. Until you're comfortable with wiring and the potential hazards of setting off the airbag ignitor accidentally (simple static electricity can do it) you're getting into a hairy modification. Those things can break limbs, digits, noses, ribs, etc just from catching one when it goes off at the wrong time. I'd say, if you remove the airbag, then work on the extension. Or, research airbag tech a bit, and once comfortable with ignition and how to safeguard yourself then start the extension mod. More than likely your shop instructors will drop their lunch and run for cover and district insurance waivers when you mention trying this with an intact airbag. I'm guessing this isn't what you were looking for but hey, and no drama, you're essentially contemplating modifications and probable repeated test fittings of a prototype barrel on a loaded gun.
