Default Exahust ? Do i need a Resontator and...

Might be a really stupid question but what does a resontator do and do you need it? Im thinking about taking the Resontator out, and the cat.

I want... Header to a custom made test pipe to the muffler

Cheap way to upgrade exhaust, i have a header and axel back.. what do you guys think?

i don't know why people want to remove resonators, they're less restrictive. It's just a big empty expansion area that lets the hi-freq exhaust noise cancel itself.

I am running a 2.5" exhaust, mandrel bent, with no resonator. The header is Spoon Sports, the cat is an SMS-modified Carsound, and the muffler is T1R. The tone of the exhaust is fantastic, with a really deep bass tone to it. It is rather loud, but this is just to illustrate that a resonator is not the sole contributor to the sound of the exhaust.

I would put the biggest resonator on there that you can fit. It is similar to another exhaust (a glass pack actually) that helps to quet down the exhaust and get rid of most of the raspyness.

EDIT: Reread post and I think you are talking about replacing your whole B pipe. Just get a muffler shop to build you one with a 22(or is it 24??) inch resonator and you should be good.

the resonator will redirect the straight flow of the exhaust..why not just remove the resonator and replace it with round hi-flow muffler..thus u wont be slowing down the exhaust while at the same time quieting it down
