"Clunking" noise when upshifting...start worrying!

The car is a 94 Teg, in pretty decent condition still (well, at least I like to think so hehe). Anyhow, there has been this "clunking" noise when upshifting through all the gears at every RPM. The shifting is still fairly smooth, no need to force it into any gear or anything, its just making that god awful clunking noise in the second or so it takes for me to shift into the next gear and let go of the clutch.
When downshifting through the gears, everything seems to work fine, no problems, no noise. The noise is only occuring when the car is in motion. Anyhow, I have no idea what it could be (shift linkage, shift fork, synchros?). *help*
TIA everyone.

it could be a very early sign of your synchros wearing out....... how long has it been since you've changed your tranny fluid?
We need more info to help you, my brother.
When exactly does it "clunk"? When you actually shift? when you let the clutch out? Do you feel any resistance or weirdness on the shifter, or any vibrations or wierdness through the clutch pedal?
First guess is the clutch or perhaps shifter fork. Have you checked the clutch fluid level? How many miles on the car, and the clutch?
Could be the synchros or something in the tranny itself.
Give us more info, and we will try to help more...

While we are on the subject about tranny does anyone else here have a hard time downshifting to first gear from any other gear? My tranny doesn't let me go into first until I'm almost 2 mph. I tried doubleclutching but that doesn't work either. At first I thought it was a safety lock to prevent you from overreving but I heard from other members that you should be able to downshift into first if you are below 20 mph.
LostGSR:
Check you clutch - pedal engagement, master and slave cylinders. Make sure the clutch if fully disengaging. Change the fluid too. Perhaps, you might just have a finicky tranny, worn synchros, etc.
Good luck amigo.

Try blipping your throttle before getting it into gear to rev-match the gears. This may help to down shift smoother. Just don't downshift to 1st while you are going really fast or you'll blow something.

Hmm, the tranny fluid was changed like a few hundred miles ago. The clunk occurs like when I shift from 3rd to 4th and when I let go of the clutch. Being more specific, if I leave it in neutral and shift to any gear, there is no clunk (when I start a shift in neutral); but when I shift like from 1 to 2 (1 down through neutral, to 2nd) then it will clunk. After I've shifted to the gear I need, if I let go of the clutch in anyway that is even semi-fast, then it "clunks" again. Theres no real oddities or resistance in the shifter, nor vibrations or anything in the clutch pedal...its still pretty smooth.
The car itself has 62K on it, not sure about the clutch (2nd hand car). I'll check the clutch fluid right now though. Anyhow, thanks for the responses everyone, appreciate it!

Ah doh...my bad. Thanks again everyone, I'll get it fixed asap.
Oh quick update...I just noticed last night after driving around the block a few times that there is also a slight clunk when letting off the gas/getting on the gas pedal (same sound, just fainter). I guess this pretty much shows that its probably the engine mounts.
