getting a 89 si for 500 bucks
im new here...i had a turbo'd EG but it was totaled. Now tomorow i am buying a 89 civic si for 500 bucks. The body is in great condition and interior is flawless. But the motor burns oil which will be an easy fix since im planning on getting a b16. so heres the question... If i plan to swap out for a B16A1 what tranny and ecu would i need for it?...i tried a search but no luck...thanks in advance

Your search for b16 swap returned the following 130 results
You didnt search too well. Plus you can try things like b16 ecu, b16 tranny, b16 transmission, etc......
*EDIT* Also search under recent and archives and you will find all your answers and then some...But just to help you out for ECU you use either the pr0 or pr3 for obd-0 b16's, as for a tranny there are all kinds that you can use as long as they are cable trannies otherwise if you want to get a hydro tranny you can get the hydro to cable conversion and you can also do a search for that as well.

Well from what I have heard the LS tranny is the best for boost since it has longer gears.

thats funny man...aight...LS is what im hearing from alot of people too for boost?...one more thing?...do i really need axles for the swap or can i use the factory ones?
not trying to bring up the long gear is better for boost discussion but do a search before you buy the ls tranny. you might find something better.

What do you mean by factory ones?? As in ones that you can buy from like Autozone or something?? If so then yes those would be fine I mean if your planning on getting really high HP numbers than getting aftermarket race axles would be the way to go IF you have a problem breaking them. But also if you do buy them from like Autozone they do come with a lifetime warranty so break away.

I dont know much about the B-series trannies I was just going off what I have heard. Oh and it seems after I read a few articles that the longer gears arent better with boosting even though in some of those threads some people will still say the LS tranny is the way to go but read them all there is a lot of good info in them.
