90-93 LS have decent gears for turbo, the gearing is fairly similar to 94-01 GSR. The 92-93 GSR or the JDM trannies are best for acceleration, but I like to highway run, so I opted for the LS tranny. 180+ top end OWNZ.

Got 2 of the 90-91 LS trannies, as a matter of fact. 90 A-1 in the car now, 91 S-1 for a spare, which will get a Quaife here shortly.

you picked the LS tranny only for the high top/long gearing right? anyone have experiences boosting with a jdm Y1? or is that too long still?

Im running a y1 1st-4th gears and LS 5th gear, in an A1 case.

I like the y1 since 1st gear starts high, and 2-4 are nice and close. 5th gear is a
big jump, but great on the highway.

Im currently working on a ys1 cable trans, which will go in with my next motor.

I have a boosted rex with a Y1 tranny and the gearing is bad *** allthough I tend to get into 5th gear sometimes at the track.

The y1 is nearly as long as the LS (same FD, 1 is longer in Y1, the rest are a little shorter), probably a good choice for a streetable boosted car.

I've ran my friend's crx with a Turbo GSR, using a JDM Y1. I think it's too short for the turbine. You have to switch gears too soon. We're gonna try a USDM YS1 tranny (LS tranny) soon, and see how that feels.

Its a usdm LS ys1, but im not leaving it stock.
I havnt decided what combination of gears final drive i want to run yet.
But im currently very pleased with my y1/ls combo.
The y1 1st-4th are great. Ive ran almost every cable trans over the years too.
The jdm s1/j1 trannys were really fun, but the 1st gears were so damn low that
it made them practically useless; 1st gear is over before it begins. The y1 gears
are -just- close enough, and the 1st gear starts off just high enough to be perfect.

a recent article in SCC showed Shawn's car and his tranny setup.
Basically your best bet is ITR 1-4 gears, 94 up GSR5th and 94 UP Teg LS FD.
