Default Slightly OT: Need your help and advice

So I am selling my car on autotrader and in our classifieds area here. I get a response in my email that a dealer has a customer interested in my car. SO we exchange a few emails and he asks for my bottom line price. So I tell him 16k-

Here is his reply to me.... Does this sound odd or like a scam to you guys?

Thanks for the reply,I have discussed and convinced my customer and
he has agreed to pay the $16,000 you asked, for the car; and he has
instructed me to inform you that payment will get to you in a refund cashier
cheque with excess amount above the cost of your vehicle, and is a refund
payment of a cancelled order earlier made by my customer.
Due to the policy of the company that owes him, this cheque has to be made out
in this amount owed to him in full to you ,because company policy only
allows a refund payment on one cashier cheque and all is $22,655, so you
will be required to deduct cost of your vehicle which is $16,000 when
cheque payment gets to you and refund the excess balance of $6,655 to him
via money gram money transfer or western union money transfer for him
to be able to offset shipping charges from there and pay up the agent
coming to pick up the vehicle.
After payment has reached you and excess
balance sent back to him,the agent [Mr Roland Delveqio] will come pick
up title papers and car keys with other
necessary documents thats goes with the vehicle and drive to a prepaid
shipper to be shipped to my customer, and he will take care of title
papers, car keys and other necessary documents, making sure they get to him
via Fedex courier.
Do confirm this.If you agree to assist in this
capacity, please send your contact address where my client
should send the cheque, your name to be on cheque and telephone numbers,I
will instruct my client to send the cheque by express priority mail to
you.
The excess balance is for the agents air fee and insurance of the car to England.

Thank you and GOD bless
Owen.

Thank you guys for your help as I am new to selling cars

Sounds like a scam, I'd wait for a legit buyer, one who doesn't have to use a "dealership" to go through.

One of the oldest scams in the book! Bewareee!

They usually send you a check and you cash it. All goes well for about 2 weeks and then you get a call from your banking saying the something wrong with the check.

If I am wrong, I apologize.

i sold my car on autotrader and i got sort of the same thing, but the person claimed to be from out of the country and wanted me to work out the details with his agent in the states. Lucky for me the car was sold the day I received the email therefore I just emailed back and said it was sold. Just becareful because people do crazy stuff when it comes to money and what they want.

Scam. It's been happening all over the place.

Ask him you will only accept a direct deposit into your bank account and see what he says lol!

Yep, a scam for sure. That cashiers check will NOT be good. Just tell him you have to wait a month to ensure the funds clear and he wont email you again.

UPDATE

Here is his Email after I replied back saying "thanks for the scam buddy"

Hi Greg,
It's rather ridiculous that you choose to be a pessimist instead of being an optimist! This mode of payment is real! 'cos am ready to furnish you with my phone # & house address.
Stay blessed!
Owen.

lol that's the usual reply to that. The MR2 board has a thread regarding this thread with a bunch of similar/humorous replies, you have to register to see it though otherwise I'd post the link.
